IELTS speaking test questions reported this month.
Part 1 – questions about work, photos, photographs, quality of photographs
Part 2 – question about a house or apartment you would like to live in
Part 3 – questions about the design of houses in the future, houses for young and old people, different materials for building houses
The questions in Part 1 of this IELTS speaking test are simple and straightforward.
The Part 2 cue card topic question asks about a hypothetical situation – a house or apartment where you would like to live in the future. You could think of this as your dream house, it’s hypothetical so you can describe what your dream house / ideal house would look like, what things (features) would be in it, and where it would be situated (located), maybe in the countryside, in a city, near a beach, in the mountains, or wherever you think would be an ideal / perfect place to live.
It doesn’t have to be practical (or possible) because it’s hypothetical, so if you have a good imagination this question is easy. You could say you would like the house to be on top of a mountain because it would have a tremendous view – you don’t have to worry about explaining how difficult it would be to actually build a house on top of a mountain.
The Part 3 questions ask about differences in house construction/design/building.
Note: you do not need any specialist knowledge to answer the questions about building materials. You can speak quite generally about what materials might be used in the future; for example, recycled materials, eco-friendly materials, energy saving materials, materials which will not add to environmental pollution and will conserve energy, and so on.
Don’t worry about technical details. House construction materials in the future might be very different from today – so it’s almost impossible to say what materials exactly will be used – but you can be sure they will me more environmentally friendly and designed to save/conserve energy and natural resources than many materials used in the past, because that’s already happening, so even more houses in the future will be built using these kinds of materials.
