Broken decorations and props really stink especially when you usually find out when you are ready to use them. Today I'm opening up an animated, barking skeleton dog to show what is inside, demonstrate how to fix what isn't working and review options for modifying to make some fun improvements. This animated / mechanical decoration isn't moving but the power is there. It is also supposed to turn on or activate in response to sound but that is not working so well either. See how I fix all of the problems in this Halloween decoration and then apply the same tips and tricks to your own props. The nice thing is that most decorations that have similar types of functions use fairly similar parts.
In this video I walk through the common problems or malfunctions with these types of things that light up, make sound and even move. First you will see how I work through the "diagnosis" of the problems followed by the repair options and materials I like to use. Lastly, I cover some of the options to modify these to improve the functions. Ideas like making them louder, changing the power source or even using a different switch / activation option. There is also a mention as to how external sound is transformed into an electrical current used to switch on the lights, sounds and movements.
