Dr. Mala Raj is a renowned Obstetrician & Gynecologist, A Specialist in Laparoscopic Surgery and Infertility, graduated from Kilpauk Medical College in the year 1992 and acquired Post Graduate Diploma from Sri Ramachandra Medical College in the year 1997.
She developed a keen interest in Endoscopic surgery and did her Diploma on the same from the University of Kiel (Germany).She has also completed another Diploma in Reproductive Medicine from the same university.

Unlike many fertility centres where Laparoscopic surgeries and fertility treatment are handled by different doctors, ‘Firm hospitals’ is the only place in Chennai where both Laparoscopic Surgery and Fertility treatment are done by the same doctor – Dr.Mala Raj. As both specialties go hand in hand, it is mandatory to have the same doctor addressing both these issues.

Dr.Mala Raj with a strong foundation of 17 years of experience in performing Laparoscopic Surgeries, understands the importance of identifying abnormalities affecting the fertility potential of women. In Firm Hospitals, women beset with these problems are identified and corrective surgery is performed,followed by fertility treatment; all of which is performed by Dr.Mala Raj herself.

Her special skills are Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (removal of uterus laparoscopically) & Laparoscopic Myomectomy (removal of fibroid laparoscopically) and to date, she has handled more than 10000 cases. She is the recipient of the ‘Dr. SiuliRudra Sinha award’ for the best paper in Gynaec Endoscopy at AICOG (All India Obstetric & Gynaecological Congress) held at Cochin in the year 2006. She has received many awards like the Rashtriya Rattan Award for Individual Contribution and Distinguished Services to the Nation 2014, TANCARE AWARD for Exemplary Commitment And Impactful Positive Contribution To Healthcare in Tamil Nadu – 2014, Jewel of India Award by Indian Solidarity Council for Outstanding Achievement – 2015 and ‘Best Doctor Award’ from the University of Madras.

She is a teaching faculty for the Ethicon Institute, where she teaches the nuances of Laparoscopic surgery to the post graduates & gynecologists. Many gynecologists visit Firm Hospitals to learn Laparoscopic surgical skills from her.

Apart from giving relief to women from the problems, she has made many families happy by making them proud parents. When women fail to conceive naturally, she has helped them enjoy the pleasure of motherhood by “Test Tube Babies” and there are many enjoying these pleasures today.

When women are beset by problems at any stage from adolescence to menopause, she is there to support them with her expertise.
A Member of FOGSI, she attends all major programs conducted, to keep her updated with all the latest advancements in woman care. Also by being an active member of the ISGE (International Society for Gynecological Endocrinology), ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine), ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction & Embryology), AAGL (American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists), Indian Association of Gynecological Endoscopist, International Gynec-Endoscopy Association and Indian Menopausal Society, Indian society for assisted reproduction, she has interacted with some of the distinguished members of this faculty and presented papers in various national and international conferences. She was also the Chapter Secretary of Indian Menopause Society, Chennai chapter and has conducted many CME programs and Public forums. She is an accredited menopause practitioner and has passed the Menopause practitioners exam in distinction.

Her inclination towards service made her the First Lady of Rotary club of Sun City, Chennai in which she has conducted many free camps and public forums. Her positive attitude to adapt to challenges coupled with her ability to bring in sincerity and hard work are her strengths to achieve the professional excellence. She strives with passion and determination to improve the status of women’s health care.

When all tests fail and there are practically no chances for natural conception, we then resort to IVF/ICSI and make her conceive.Once she gets conceived we are there to take care of her all through the pregnancy and they can have their delivery safely in our hospital itself.
