CUE CARD #1 ANSWER: Describe a piece of equipment at your home that you use a lot.
I guess the thing I probably use more than others is the washing machine; some people might call it a domestic appliance rather than equipment, but it’s the only thing like that I can think of because the cooker is gas and there are no moving parts in it, so the washing machine is the thing most like equipment that I have at home at the moment.

I usually do laundry every couple of days because I do a lot of sports and stuff so I’m constantly changing clothes and my dirty laundry soon mounts up.
I share an apartment with a colleague from work, so between us we usually manage to fill the machine with a full load every couple of days. I tend to be the one who does the laundry because she does most of the cooking – it’s a sort of trade off we agreed upon, because I can’t cook to save myself and I hate cleaning, although I do help her sometimes.

Anyway, the washer was already installed in the apartment when we both moved in so I’ve no idea how long it’s been there – if I had to guess I’d probably say it looks around five years old, just based on the design and how it looks.

My friend uses it also, but not very often, normally just if I’m away working or visiting my parents and she’s at home alone. So I’m basically the one who uses it the most.

If I could improve it in some way it would be by including a dryer feature in the same machine, I now they’re available but this particular model of washer doesn’t have that feature. It would certainly make doing the laundry easier if I could dry some of the clothes in the machine rather than having to hang them all outside to dry, especially when the weather is colder.

Apart from that, it’s okay, I mean it doesn’t make any funny noises or anything and we’ve been using it for a couple of years now without any problems so I can’t really complain about it at all – it’s been very reliable.

CUE CARD #4 ANSWER: Describe your favorite building in the city/town where you live.
There’s a building which I love going to near where I live. It’s actually a restaurant with a small café attached to it and the café is located on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean – so the view is absolutely spectacular. It’s actually better then the view from the restaurant!

You can see some of the islands which are close to the shore and normally you’ll see quite a few boats and yachts out on the water, so it’s an interesting view as well as being beautiful.

So it’s designed like a big long balcony which runs basically the length of the building, with the main restaurant inside and the café outside. There’s a rustic roof with large beams but the front of the café is open so you can see the ocean with an unobstructed view, and smell the sea air and feel the breeze, especially in the evenings.

The tables and chairs and other furniture are all of a rustic design too, so it’s got a nice natural feel to it throughout the building. The floor is wooden also and it looks like the deck of a yacht. Inside, where the restaurant is located it’s a little different, more up-market with more formal décor.

It’s a fantastic place to go for lunch or sit with friends and watch the sun go down at the end of the evening. It’s so fresh and open – I much prefer it to sitting inside in the restaurant. It’s a really popular place and it’s always full of people.

On special occasions and weekends it’s literally packed and you have to make a reservation just to make sure you get a table. You can sometimes see people lining up outside just to get in.

The café serves snacks and the usual drinks, coffee, tea, beer and all that sort of stuff and they have some absolutely delicious desserts which are to die for. The last time I went there with my friend and we had this superb chocolate gâteau which was just heavenly, one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten.
